While the coronavirus pandemic is nothing to cheer for, its been the culprit for several unintended consequences. Drug arrests in the notoriously crime-ridden city of Chicago are down 42 percent compared with the same period last year.
Dealers and buyers are likely conforming to the social distancing rules set forth by the city. With no human traffic in the city, there’s little business to be conducted. Overall, Chicago’s crime has decliend by 10 percent since the pandemic broke loose.
Other side effects of COVID-19 include a significant decrease in pollution and mortality decreases. While all these side effects may seem great, the world can’t expect people to stay home forever.
